HISTORY OF AKOMADAN CIRCUIT
The Circuit started as a society by the late Opanin Kwabena Mensah between 1908-1909 as a house fellowship. From 1920-1979, Akomadan served as a Section under Offinso Kwabre Circuit with about five societies.
In 1981, on 15th November, Akomadan gained a full Circuit Status at the time when Rev. I.K. Assuamah- Thompson was the Chairman of the Kumasi District.
Some ministers who have served the Circuit as Superintendent Ministers since it attained a full Circuit status include:
1. Rev. Kweku A. Abakah with Mponponsuo as resident Circuit Minister.
2. Rev. Kofi Sakyi
3. Rev. D.C. Mensah
4. Rev. E.K. Fosu, the incumbment Superintendent
and a host of others who have contributed immensely to its current state.
Akomadan as a circuit has about nine societies which include Akomadan, Afrancho, Nkenkansu, Darso, Kobreso, Asuoso, Seseko, Mantukwa and Makyinmabre.
Other lay workers who have helped build this Circuit include: The late J.B. Ofori, A Catechist, Samuel Odua and Osei Wireko who later became Reverend Ministers.
Mr. I.B. Boateng served as the first Circuit Steward when Akomadan gained a full Circuit status. His position was taken over by Mr. K.A. Adusei.
Almost all the nine societies have embarked on Cash Crop farming projects like tomatoes, pepper, cassava, maize etc. Afrancho society in particular has rehabilitated a seven acre abandoned cocoa farm.
Akomadan Circuit which started as a Section under Offinso Circuit with only five societies, has now grown to more than nine societies with about thousand five hundred members since attainment of full Circuit Status in 1981.
