BRIEF HISTORY- EBENEZER SOCIETY
Ebenezer Methodist church, pankrono was planted in 1931 by a team of students from Wesley College called the "Preaching Band" which was under the leadership of the Late Dr. K.A. Busia. Members of this group used to wear summer-hats to protect them the scorching sun.

The Preaching Band embarked upon house to house evangelism on Saturdays and Sundays and in time won many souls including most of the women who were making pots as that was their main occupation at that time. Besides preaching the gospel, the Band also scarificed to dress the sores of children as a way of practicing their message to win more souls and encourage converts to follow suit. Regular meetings were organised for new converts under a shady tree.

Some of the converts were Kojo Amoah, Kofi Fofie, Kontor, Yaw Barfi and Isaac Yeboah. Others were Yaw Opoku, Akua Abonee, Kwabena Asubonten (Pankrono Chief) all of blessed memory.

The infant church attracted a number of children including Akwasi Agyekum,Sarah Nsiah, Fred Kyeremanteng, Kwabena Dwumfour who have all passed way. Others are Mary berkoh and Opanin osei Tutu who are still alive but bedridden.
In 1933, the church had a recession (thus many members left) mainly because there was no active leadership in place but visitations by students from Wesley College revitalized the Church back to life the following year. It was around this same time that members contributed money and other  materials to commence with the building of the first chapel.
It is worth mentioning that the plot of land was given by Opanin Yaw Opoku (of Dome) and the late Jacob Apraku appointed as the first caretaker.
In the process of building the chapel, Opaning yaw Opoku and Yaw Baafi were arrested and detained at the Kings Palace Court for destroying someones orange farm but the two were later released after investigations were conducted by Nana Prempeh II officials and found out that the trees were felled to enable them put up a chapel. Unfortunately, Opanin Apraku, the first Caretaker left Pankrono for his hometown for good rendering the Church leaderless thereby affecting the membership.

In 1948, a Catechist, who later became a Minister of the gospel by name Rev. Abraham Osei Asibey came to revive the Church and won back many members who had stopped coming due to the unstable leadership faced by the Church. Several new converts were also converted. One of the new converts, an expolice man by name Mr. John kwasi Adu (of blessed memory) was also trained and appointed the Second Caretaker.

In 1955, a new chapel was built under the leadership of the late J.K. Adu. In fact he purchased a van known in the local dialect as " Anwoana Patuo" which was used to convey building materials from Adwumakase kesse and its environs for the building project. Once again members contributed freely in cash and kind and notable among them is Captain Moses Kyeremanteng who donated pews.

It must be mentioned that the following persons have contributed immensely towards the building of the new chapel ; Opanin Isaac Yeboah, Yaw Baafi, Yaw Opoku, Akwasi Agyekum, sarah Nsiah, S.H. Adu, I.K. Gyamfi, Agya Manu and Philip Osei Tutu.

In June 1980, one Mr. Samuel Owusu (now an evnagelist) who had served as steward since 1970 became the caretaker with Mr. J.R. Akuoko serving as the society steward. It was in 1982 that the Pankrono Methodist Church was named Ebenezer Society with approval from Conference which was presided over by Most Rev. Sanuel B. Essiamah. As at that time , Organisations in the Church included the Choir (led by Emmanuel oware Boakye, Singing Band (led by Kwabena Wuo) , Womens Fellowship (led by Sarah Nsiah), Men's Fellowship, Sunday School and the Evnagelism Committee.

In 1984, Rev. Kofi Amponsah who was then the Principal of Wesley College acted as the Administrator. He led the church to intensify its evangelism duties through the New Life For All Programme which led to planting a new church at Bampenase. He was supported by Bro. Samuel Owusu, Samuel Bpampong, J.M Oppong, King Francis Osei, Osei Mensah (Ex Assemblyman but now deceased). Others include  Mad. Cecilia, Mad. Rose, Bro. Samuel Mensah, James Tawiah,  Mr. Dankwah, Mr. Yaw Frimpong and Isaac Manu. In 1991 the Church managed to buy a new set Band Instruments which was dedicated the following year under the administration of Rev. J.K. Adubah (past Bishop of Tarkwah Diocese) who was later transfered to Kumawu as the chaplain of Tweneboah Kodua Secondary School, now Senior High.

Rev. Paul Boafo (the current Presiding Bishop) took over from Rev. Adubah who was the then chaplain of Osei Tutu Senior High. With support from Mad. Emelia Kusi and Mr. James Clifford Baafi as stewards, Rev. Boafo led the churh to establish a branch of the SUWMA and again assisted in the construction of the Church's Mission House. He is remembered for his "push and direction" method. The Church would want to acknowledge the support of one Mr. Turkson, the carpenter who helped with the roofing of the mission house. Rev. Baiden who by then had been posted to Freeman College in 1992 took charge of the affairs of the Church and did his best to enforce discipline and conducts of the Methodist Church.

In 1995, Rev. Peter Dei- Bakpanla was posted to Pankrono as the hurchs first Official Resident Minister. The mission house was officially dedicated on 27th April, 1996 by the then Chairman and General Superintendent of the Kumasi District in the person of Rt. Rev. Dr. Samuel Asante Antwi.
Later on Rev. Peter Bakpanla did well to erect a wall around the mission house and the chapel which helped to preclude encroaches from invading on the church's land. He again prepared the grounds for a new chapel building by purchasing materials such as iron rods, roofing sheets and molded about 8000 pieces of bricks.

Rev. James Osei (now a supernumery) took over from Rev. Peter Bakpanla and continued the god work commenced by his predecessor. He sought to the purchase of the Church's benz Bus and again thought it wise to honour those who have in many ways contributed immensely to the life of the Church. (thus Ebenzer Society). Among these include Opanin J.K. Adu, Opanin Kwadwo Achaempong, Agya nimoh, Obaapanyin Agnes Serwaah all of blessed memory. The rest were Mr. Philip Osei Tutu, Mr. Obiri and Mad. mary Berko who were present as at that time.
