This short introduction of where we were and where we are as a circuit will give you an insight into our background as well as our vision. The Bohyen Circuit was one of the new circuits created by the Methodist conference held in August 2002. The Bohyen Circuit used to be a section of the Bantama Circuit and thanks to the then Bishop, Rt. Rev. N. B. Abubekr, during whose tenure of superintendency, the idea of Bohyen becoming a circuit materialized.
The circuit at its inception was made of eighteen (18) societies, namely: Bohyen, Abrepo, Ohwin/ Amanfrom, Atafoa, Achiase, Asuofua, Asamang, Adankwame, Esaso, Pasoro, Kapro, Amoamang, Barekese, Fufuo, Abira, Barekuma, Aninkroma and Marbang.
The first announcement to raise Bohyen from Society status to the status of a Circuit head was made by the Rt. Rev. N. B. Abubekr in the year 2000. Bohyen was seen a promising society and during one of his regular visits as the chairman of the Leaders' meeting held on 5th November, 1999, brought up an observation as to the potential of Bohyen becoming the Circuit head. Not quite long after, the then Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Kwaku Asamoah-Okyere also reiterated the same observation. Being convinced that it was with the will and purposed of God, Bohyen took up the challenge and braced itself for the responsibility.
The Bantama Circuit Quaterly Meeting held at Bohyen on 15th April, 2000, took the challenge and recommended to Synod 2000 for Bohyen to be created as a section, starting at stage A in accordance with S. O. 602 (3)(a). Consequently, two areas (Achiase and Barekese) under Bantama and their societies were placed under Bohyen which was made the sectional head. The Rev. Aduse Poku (Now Bishop of Obuasi Diocese) was stationed at Bohyen as the Sectional Minister.
Bro. James Brobbey and Mr. J. K. Adjei of Bohyen and Fufuo Societies were appointed as Sectional Stewards while Bro. Osei Yaw Akoto was appointed as the Sectional Meeting Secretary. The elections were supervised by the Rt. Rev. Brew Riverson and the Very Rev. Frank Opoku-Boateng. Sectional committees as well as sectional organizations were formed and leaders were appointed for the various groups as well as other officers.
In accordance with S.O. 602 (3)(6), the Bohyen Section was permitted to prepare its own accounts in January 2001. In the same month, its first Camp Meeting was held at Adankwame. It was very successful, however, various organizations within the section continued to operate under the Bantama Circuit.
In January 2002, another successful Camp Meeting was held at Asuofua. The Administrative structures of the church were put in place, the necessary appointments made with all Administrative committees working effectively. Then in August, 2002 Bohyen section was given the green light to move to stage C and be granted circuit status at the conference held at Wesley Cathedral, Adum. The Rev. Aduse Poku was transferred to Anwomaso and the Very Rev. Frank Twum- Baah was appointed and stationed as the first superintendent Minister of the Bohyen Circuit. Brothers James Brobbey and J.K. Adjei became the first Circuit Stewards.
